Exclusively created for Margaret River Region Open Studios 2025, this special edition workshop invites you to explore the grounding and expressive qualities of ochresthrough the ancient medium of encaustic wax.
Whether you're new to encaustic or a returning enthusiast, this guided session celebrates earthy pigments and luminous textures. You'll create a finished 20x20cm encaustic painting, fusing traditional ochres with contemporary mixed media techniques.
In this workshop, you will:
- Learn how to mix and work with natural ochres in encaustic painting.
- Experiment with paper collage, metallic foils, and pastels to enhance surface texture and depth.
- Discover new techniques with oil and soft pastels on wax to create subtle tonal shifts.
- Take home a unique artwork that captures your creative journey through the colours of the earth.
Workshop includes:
- All encaustic and mixed media materials
- A professional and encouraging instructor
- Your completed 20x20cm encaustic artwork
Who: No experience necessary. Suitable for individuals or small groups (1–6 participants).
