Commonage
Pottery

Where wine, clay and culture come together.

Our Story

Commonage Pottery (previously known as Happs' Pottery) began in Vasse in the early 1970s. The current functioning, creative workshop was established in 1978. It was hand-built with mud bricks by Erl and Ros Happ who wanted to build a space where wine, clay and culture would come together to be enjoyed by everyone.

Today it's an inspiring cultural-setting where you will find artists at work; producing worldclass handmade pottery pieces all crafted with local minerals and clays. It’s a creative space where students are mentored and accomplished ceramic artists come from all over the world to share their passion enthusiasm and inspire our community in the region.

Our contemporary ceramic gallery and shop champions the very best independent ceramic makers from all across Western Australia and has done so for more than four decades. Discover the handcrafted work of more than 20 talented makers as well as gorgeous paintings and handcrafted jewellery from local artisans.
