Our Story
Welcome to Commonage Pottery Gallery, where art, wine, and nature come together in a truly immersive experience.
Originally known as Happs’ Pottery, Commonage Pottery began in Vasse in the early 1970s, with the current creative workshop hand-built from mud bricks in 1978 by Erl and Ros Happ. Their vision was to create a cultural space where clay, craftsmanship, and community could flourish.
Today, our gallery and workshop remain a vibrant hub of creativity, where artists produce world-class handmade pottery pieces crafted with local minerals and clays. It’s a space where students are mentored, and accomplished ceramic artists from around the world share their passion, enthusiasm, and expertise, inspiring our community.
For over four decades, our contemporary ceramic & art gallery have championed the finest independent ceramic makers from across Western Australia. Visitors can witness artists demonstrating on-site and purchase handcrafted pottery, jewellery, glass art, and paintings directly from the makers.
Set alongside Happs Wines, our space offers a unique self-tasting cellar door and picnic options, inviting you to relax and experience the seamless blend of art, culture, and nature.
