Curious about encaustic wax? Take a three-hour workshop on a journey of discovery with artist Colin Pratt and explore this fascinating medium that dates back more than 2,000 years to the Ancient Greeks.
Encaustic is an ancient technique where coloured beeswax is layered, fused, and shaped to create luminous surfaces and rich textures.
In this hands-on session you will create two paintings (20 × 20 cm) to take home while discovering the beauty and versatility of painting with molten wax.
No previous experience is necessary and all materials are provided. You will experiment with a range of mixed media incorporated into encaustic wax, including collage, charcoal and shellac.
This workshop is designed to be enjoyable and accessible for beginners as well as experienced artists looking to explore a new medium. Come on your own or share the experience — it’s a wonderful creative activity to enjoy with friends, family or a creative companion.
