Introduction to the Potter’s Wheel with Gary Hambleton

Cost: $155 per person

Suitable for adults and children 14+

Description:

An accessible and enjoyable introduction to wheel-thrown pottery, led by master potter Gary Hambleton in the inspiring setting of Commonage Pottery & Gallery at Happs Wines.

This session focuses on learning the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel — including centring clay and forming a simple bowl. Participants will gain hands-on experience, develop confidence at the wheel, and enjoy a relaxed creative experience while visiting the Margaret River region.

This workshop is designed as an experiential introduction.
Pieces made during the session are for learning purposes and only one piece is kept.

Workshop includes:

• All materials
• Practical approach to making your clay ready for the pottery wheel
• Live demonstration and guided instruction
• Hands-on practice at the pottery wheel
• Use of Gary’s own professionally blended clay bodies
• Individual guidance throughout the session
• Complimentary wine tasting at Happs Wines

Choose to keep one of your pieces made during the session:

• Choose one piece that you have made in the session to be glazed and fired
• If you choose to keep more than one piece, the cost is $30 per piece
• Workshop pieces take up to 8 weeks to process as they go through a multi -firing process. You can opt to collect your piece from Commonage Pottery. If you are unable to collect, we can post it at an additional charge. 
  

Who:

Suitable for beginners and first-time makers. No experience necessary. Recommended for ages 14+
