Join WA fibre artist Cath Inman for a special, hands-on workshop at Happs Wines & Commonage Pottery, celebrating our gardens, dried ferns, flowers and everything beautifully organic.
This soulful workshop invites you to slow down, work with your hands, and explore creative connection to place using locally foraged plant materials, recycled elements and found objects. Together, we’ll honour the rhythm of nature and the quiet joy of making.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn how to prepare, stitch and shape palm sheaths into versatile sculptural vessels that can be wall-hung or worn as a foraging pouch.
Guided by Cath, you’ll explore:
- Preparing and shaping palm sheaths
- Hand-stitching techniques
- Creating sculptural and functional forms
- Adorning your vessel using natural and found materials
- Optional foraging on site
- Making simple cordage or string for hanging or wearing your piece
You are warmly encouraged to bring along any small personal treasures you’d like to incorporate into your work.
This is an inclusive, waste-free and accessible workshop designed to nurture creativity, connection, environmental awareness and sustainability. No prior experience is needed — just curiosity and an open heart.

About Cath Inman
Cath Inman is a WA-based sustainable fibre artist working with found and foraged plant materials from her local environment in the Perth Hills. With a background in horticulture and years spent working as a gardener, Cath’s practice is deeply rooted in connection to nature and place.
Her love of weaving grew organically through working with garden prunings and overlooked materials, evolving into a practice that feels both ancient and intuitive. Cath creates sculptural and functional works that reimagine basketry traditions while honouring sustainability and waste-free making.
Alongside her own art practice, Cath facilitates inclusive, nurturing workshops across WA — bringing people together to reconnect with creativity, community and the natural world.
