Felt Rock Buddies with Annie Winchcombe
Dates: Monday 7th & 14th July
Time: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Who: Kids 6-11
Get ready for a woolly adventure! In this tactile and imaginative workshop, children will create their very own Felt Rock Buddies — playful, character-filled creatures made from soft, natural wool fibres. Guided by local mixed media artist Annie Winchcombe, kids will be introduced to the art of wet felting, a soothing, hands-on process that transforms loose wool into solid shapes using warm soapy water, rolling, and gentle pressure.
Each child will begin with a smooth river stone and learn to wrap it with layers of coloured wool, blending textures and tones to create soft, sculptural forms. Once their "buddy" is felted and dry, kids will bring them to life using simple accessories and embellishments — think eyes, ears, wings, or tails made from yarn, fabric scraps, and foraged bits from nature.
