Dry Reds

Museum Release 2009 Three Hills Merlot

Early on in the establishment of Happs Wines, Erl Happ realised that he could grow and make high quality Merlot at the Three Hills vineyard in Karridale. The climate and soils there allow the perfect ripening conditions for what can be a tricky variety. Over time, he earned the reputation as "The Merlot Man" throughout the Margaret River Wine Region. Our Three Hills Merlot embodies the true aging potential of Merlot and has a loyal following all over the country.

AROMA: A lifted and complex aroma displaying black jubes, green plum, forest floor, dark chocolate and tomato leaf. The wine responds well to some air to reveal ripe mulberry and black forest characters.

PALATE: This is a medium to full bodied wine with great fruit depth. The wine displays an abundance of dark fruit, bitter chocolate and black jubes characters with hints of earth, game and mint. The tannins are noticeable yet soft and fine and the palate length impressive for this variety.

VARIETIES: 85% Merlot 8.5% Malbec & 6.5% Cabernet.

ANALYSIS: Alc/Vol: 14.2%, Acidity: 6.5 g/L, pH: 3.61, Residual Sugar: < 0.1 g/L.
