Verdelho is best known in Madeira and Portugal where it makes great fortified wines. In recent times Verdelho has become more popular for dry and semi-sweet styles of table wine, especially in New South Wales. Unfortunately the grape is highly susceptible to powdery mildew and terrible to pick because of its tiny straggly little bunches. This accounts for the fact that not many people are keen to plant it in Margaret River. However, for those who embrace the challenge and persist with it - it makes great wines from dry through to sweet.
AROMA: Attractive perfumed aroma of fruit salad, banana and bubblegum, with a hint of mandarin and lime. Is immediately sweet and fruity displaying nectarine, lime juice, tropical fruit and confectionary flavours.
PALATE: The palate is delicate and soft with a crisp acidity that gives the wine a clean dry finish.
VARIETY: 100% Verdelho.
