Cabernet Franc is distinguished by the fact that, when under-ripe, it is quite thin and herbaceous. However, when truly ripe Cabernet Franc develops the aroma of violets and becomes a variety with the potential to add the most to the aromatics of a blend. During vintages that this ripeness is achieved, we select fruit to make a single varietal that is truly representative of this grape at its best.
AROMA: Lifted aroma of dark fruit, earth, truffle and red currant with hints of cedar, mocha, violets and eucalypt.
PALATE: This is a wine with an impressive structure and depth of flavour. The wine displays characters of dark berries, choc mint, and plum skin with notes of leather, cola and forest floor; flavours are concentrated, ripe and dominated by sweet berry fruit characters. Fine slightly chalky tannins give the wine texture and structure, yet they finish fine, soft and long.
