The grape varieties blended to make our Three Hills Eva Marie are Semillon, Sauvignon blanc and occasionally a little bit of Muscadelle. At low yield but high flavour levels these varieties are capable of making a wine to stand beside the best Chardonnays in terms of complexity, interest and longevity. That is our intent with this wine. Eva and Maria are old family names going back to the 1850s at the time when two brothers Happ arrived in Australia.
AROMA: An attractive aroma of gooseberry, guava, lemon skin and pastry with hints of gun smoke, grass and white flowers.
PALATE: This is a rich, textural, complex wine style. It is intensely flavoured with grapefruit, gooseberry, quince and fig with notes of white peach and lemon tart. The mouthfeel is chalky with persistent zesty acidity and notable minerality.
VARIETIES: 56.5% Semillon, 37.6% Sauvignon Blanc, 5.8% Muscadelle
ANALYSIS: Alc/Vol: 13.2%, Titratable Acidity: 6.4 g/L, pH: 3.19, Residual Sugar: 0.2 g/L.
